Bird no. 309. Worn out..If I had to guess, I would say the unraveling of my wellness this week can be traced back to an unwashed fork..If I leave the fork in the sink, then I leave the next dishes by the sink too, because I’ll wash them all at once (not right now, but later). As the week goes on, I simultaneously run out of dishes to use and run out of counter space to cook on..Since I can’t cook, I “treat myself” and order a pizza, which gives me an excuse to work through dinner, and then late into the night. Late nights feed into late mornings, until suddenly I’m going to bed when the sun is coming up (hello yesterday). I wake up in a gross fog, and here we are..It’s a whole pattern..It’s also a very privileged reason to be worn out..There are lots of ways I can afford to let myself slide that other people can’t. I have access to a kitchen that theoretically I could use for good and not evil. For the next couple months I can afford to live alone, and my mess isn’t a burden on a roommate. I can sleep as late as I want. I can afford the occasional convenience of a pizza, but I also have access to fresh food if I choose (and I can walk to get it)..My biggest personal issue right now is a single fork. I have pretty much opted out of the real world. I am almost never personally affected by the news. I can go almost anywhere and not be afraid for my safety at the hands of others..There are reasons for being tired that affect certain groups of people more than others, and if that’s not us, we never hear about it..Listening to the stories of people who are different from you is transformative. It connects you. It makes you more aware of the world you live in and the people you share it with..With that in mind, I have a challenge for you:. 1. Follow someone on social media who has a different background from you, and is talking about/doing something you could learn from. In this new space, just listen..2. Consume a piece of media by people who don’t look like you, who talk about something you’ve never experienced from their perspective..If you want, comment who and what you chose..Oh, I almost forgot.3. Wash your fork. (at Montreal, Quebec) -- source link
