Bird no. 316. Ragged..One of the biggest lessons I have learned in the first few months is that generating ideas is a skill, and there aren’t some finite amount of ideas just waiting to be plucked off the idea tree..You have to do the work of generating and developing them though, which involves a lot of reflection and massaging..Lately I’ve felt like the idea tree is barren and dry, and I was feeling a bit down about it until I realized….My circumstances have changed, but I have not adapted to them. All this week, construction has woke me up at 7:30am by jackhammering my balcony, and I have not even tried to re-organize my life around it..How much longer do I have to go before it’s unbearable?.Without a cup full of sleep, it’s so hard to pour back into meaningful work. I’m exhausted..Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite drawing exercises..Pick something you can see, then put your pen down and draw it in one continuous line, without looking down at your drawing..Here are three of mine! I hope you can tell they’re grumpy baby birds .PS I especially identify with old swirly-eye at the bottom there -- source link
