Across the Pacific… After landing in Narita, on the first leg of a 24-day journey, I met the first of many charming Japanese people at the Baggage Delivery Service counter.  My whirlwind trip took me in a huge circle around the Pacific – flying from my home in Sacramento, visiting eight cities in Japan, boarding a cruise ship that sailed past Russia and across the Bering Sea, and finally traveling by train from Vancouver to Seattle and completing the loop by air. I saw some incredible places, but the documentary photographer in me is more interested in the people – particularly how they live and work.
