galaad-spectre:As you may know, Disneyland Paris is using visuals from Phantom Manor for its Halloween seasons promotional posters. It used some graves from Boot Hill and the manor itself. But there’s also an intriguing crypt that is eerily similar to the one planned for Arthur and Gabrielle Ravenswood that was scrapped during the park’s construction. Coincidence or not ? You decide.I really hope that at some point PM will get a queue/cemetery overhaul like they did in WDW for the Haunted Mansion. There’s a lot of empty space and cool things they could do and building the mausoleum (for Henry and Martha, according to the current storyline) would be awesome. In WDW the tombstones and coffins are interactive. We can help Prudence Pock with her rhymes…play the organ and other instruments on Ravenscroft’s grave…and solve a murder mystery with the busts of the Dread family… For Phantom Manor, some of the discarded concepts could be brought back, like a gravestone for Goliath or something on the line of what they had in mind for the stables, (featuring majestic big horse boi Black Thunder) but on a smaller scale. The black coffin that has now -unofficially but kinda officially- become Mélanie’s could use a plaque and a sound effect that actually sounds like a heartbeat and not just like somebody is knocking. Also, personal opinion here, but these 3 need to go. They don’t fit, they never did and I don’t know a single person that likes them. More free space :P See that 2nd flight of 3 steps? that weird little platform is where the mausoleum was supposed to be, but it was never built. That structure always puzzled me as a kid because it’s just… there. Empty. There’s not even a flower pot or a garland and the graves of Henry and Martha are on its right side, at the base of the platform. A really awkward placement that doesn’t make much sense. If the mausoleum gets built (which, let’s be honest, will probably never happen but it’s fun to improvise ourselves imagineers from time to time :P) it could have interactive side walls like Ravenscroft’s or maybe just an audio loop of Henry and Martha arguing. If you’re unfamiliar with how DLP does multi-lingual dialogue during shows and parades, basically they have one character who speaks in French and one who speaks in English going back and forth while also partially repeating what the other person is saying. It sounds a bit weird if you understand both, but if you only speak one language you’ll still get the entire conversation just by listening to what only one of them is saying. So yeah, if they wanted to circumnavigate the ‘Vincent Price problem’ they could just make Henry the French speaker, which they have done already for some projection mapping shows, and I dunno, hire Kat Cressida to voice Martha because that would be hilarious and kinda poetic :P -- source link
