jstor: rhube: allofthefeelings: thereadingmouse: jstor: claramata: copperbadge: jstor: Picked this up at Midtown Comics this week…. Guys, JSTOR has a tumblr and reads Captain Marvel. I knew you were the hippest digital journal archive, JSTOR. Omg is that JSTOR like what I use to research?? FOR REAL? JSTOR is awesome. That self-same research database! (And we are pretty awesome, if I do say so myself… Unless that’s weird and self-aggrandizing, in which case, I take back. We’re alright.) I can’t decide which I like to imagine more: all of the employees of JSTOR reading the same comic book and maybe discussing it like a book club, or the database itself becoming sentient and reading comics when it’s not busy finding articles for college kids. I am 1000% on team Sentient Database Reads Comics And Then Searches Itself for Academic Theory About Said Comics And Then Maybe Writes Its Own And Peer-Reviews Itself. Why is it too late to request this for Yuletide. OMGOMGOMGOMG Searches self for “sentient” AND “computer” …. …. Results: “On the Conceivability of Artificially Created Enlightenment” “The Clifford Patterson Lecture, 1999: Sentient Computing“ “The Computer in Recent Utopias: A Transcendental Teleology” etc. etc. etc. I, for one, welcome our new information overlords. My advance submission gets me past the paywall, right? -- source link
