And so many of these Tumblr comment trolls rarely, if ever, post about SJ or race related issues ~*until*~ a Black person is murdered by a White person, that isGotta step up & protect that White supremacy…even when it means defending a murderous stalker I suppose. Pa-theticNote how they’re already up to making up “facts” from thin air; like how Renisha was now “running from the cops.” Even though there has been no evidence on it, the guy from this post magically knows how loudly she was knocking…guess we’ll never know bec- oh, that’s right, we can just take the murder’s word for it. Seems legit—OR NOTHere’s the thing: everywhere I have ever lived, people have knocked on my door. Weird, right?…and sometimes (gasp) it was after midnight! And sometimes it was even complete strangers!! And I never had to murder anyone! Shocking!!!These, and I use the word loosely, people are literally arguing that if you hear a loud knock on your door it’s peeerfectly reasonable and rational behavior to grab your gun, start blasting, shoot someone in the face and then and only then should you stop to ask questionsWhat if it was a good samaritan passing by trying to warn Theodore Paul Wafer that his house was on fire? Or a neighbor trying to warn him that a dangerous gas main had just burst on the street? Or the police wanting to question him about that stalking charge? Or what if it was just a 19yr old kid who had a car accident and who simply needed help? No problem—shoot first, ask questions later. As long as that stranger is Black and you’re not, odds are you won’t even get arrested on the spot. Not even if you’ve had run ins with the law, like stalkingTHERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR WHAT THIS MAN DID. NONE[important]Running from the cops?It’s like people need to make up excuses.No, there is no excuse for what he did, but how come no one ever talks about the white people that get murdered by black people?I can think of multiple cases that have happened this year alone where authorities have come out and said that it WASN’T racism and just kids being stupid or something along those lines. How come people are so quick to write it off when a black person commits a crime as just an act of stupidity against a white person but when a white person hurts a black person, it’s ALWAYS racism.Seriously.And I don’t mean to tarnish this girl’s life or how she died because I honestly think that in this case, racism did play a part, but the response that I keep seeing is getting out of hand.Ok, let’s do this. 1) First and foremost, let’s recognize that most crimes are intra-racial, meaning that the people involved, victim and perp, are usually of the same race. 2) More often than not, when a white-on-black crime is brought to the media’s attention, it’s usually because we’re seeking a resolution. More often than not, when Black People commit crimes against White People, the perps are caught and punished. When the reverse happens we have to sign petitions just to get an arrest (such as what happened with Trayvon Martin). 3) And more often than not, when a Black person commits a crime against White People, it has more to do with opportunity as opposed to bias. White People don’t come with the racial baggage that other races do, such is the “beautiy” of privilege.4) This isn’t necessarily about saying that the perp is racist, it’s about the fact that every time a Black person is a victim, we have to continually fight to make sure they’re treated as such. This woman was shot in the face because she was seeking help. And instead of questioning the severely lacking judgement of the man who shot her in the face while she was leaving his porch, people are blaming her for drinking/smoking. The cops protected the man who shot someone in the face as opposed to arresting him. AGAIN! The only reason why charges were brought against him was because, once again, we had to fight and yell and shot for this woman to get the same justice that a White Person would’ve got, and we’re not even sure if she’s gonna get that!That is the difference. The reason why you keep hearing us bring up race because we have to keep yelling and shouting it to make sure that we get the justice that we deserves as human beings that keeps being denied us. ~*click here for more soft ghetto*~ -- source link
