Fleeing WWI Europe for a better life, my great-grandparents, grandparents, and relative emigrated from Calabria, Italy in 1915. They arrived poor and with no English at Ellis Island and quickly taught themselves English and American customs, earning the respect of friends and neighbors who were no less hostile toward immigrants than people are today. Since then, my family has served in the U.S. military in every conflict since WWII, has improved its fortunes in this great nation, and has fully achieved the American Dream. I am proud of my heritage, proud of my family’s accomplishments, and above all, I am proud that I AM THE AMERICAN WAY. -- source link
