smallmariofindings:In Super Mario 64, the stairs on the sides of the lobby of Peach’s Castle and the stairs in the middle of the lobby are programmed in fundamentally different ways. The stairs on the sides are actual stairs, i.e. the collision accurately reflects each horizontal and vertical surface of each step. The stairs in the middle, however, have the collision of a single diagonal surface and merely look like stairs visually. This can be tested by making Mario crouch while walking down the stairs. On the actual stairs, Mario will start crawling down each step (top). On the fake stairs, he will instead slide down (bottom).Main Blog | Twitter | Patreon | Small Findings | Source: SM3DAS (Switch) -- source link
