Lucius Junius Brutus: Overthrew the Roman King Lucius Tarquinus Superbus and founded the Roman Republic. First person elected as consul of the Roman Republic. Died in battle against a counterrevolution led by the former King Tarquinus in 509 BC. Bust is currently on display at the Capitoline Museum in Rome. -- source link
