They have to hold your job for a few weeks, legally. But they don’t have to pay you… and a lot of them won’t.I’m a public school teacher for god’s sake and we don’t get paid maternity leave. They’ll pay you for how ever many sick days you’ve managed to save up, and then unpaid leave for up to 6 weeks. Our insurance has a system where if you sign up for disability insurance BEFORE you get pregnant (otherwise, it’s a “preexisting condition”, and wont be covered), then you can get some disability pay during your unpaid leave. It’s a ridiculous shit system. Like, so many teachers I know try really hard to plan their pregnancy so they give birth right before summer so they can like, actually stay home and recover. -- source link
