gwuscrc: The Song of Solomon [Song of Songs], in colored plates by Ze’ev Raban. Jerusalem: “Shir ha-Shirim” (1930). Bezalel designer Ze’ev Raban’s illustrations for the biblical Song of Songs blend Art Nouveau and Orientalist elements. From the I. Edward Kiev Judaica Collection, BS1482 1930. These illustrations are incredibly gorgeous. I think a couple are woodblock prints - although it’s difficult to tell! The beautiful and light colors that are chosen for the nature scenes make me very eager for the rest of spring and summer. Walking down streets overflowing with flowers adds such a touch of joy to my days. -- source link
