mentalisttraceur-conversations:andmaybegayer:mentalisttraceur-conversations:andmaybegayer:Wire NutWait is that physically made and photographed or digitally edited? I am inclined to say the latter, but I lack the expertise to with sufficient confidence rule out the former.this is edited but can you imagine the havoc if you could just pick these up at a hardware storeAlthough these days there’s a move away from using these old fashioned wire nuts, people prefer lever nuts now.Is this funnier if I know what the device atop the nuts is, or will my life otherwise be enriched by knowing that? And if so, what is it?It may enrich your life by letting you not burn down a house if you ever plan on doing electrical wiring.Wire Nuts are just an easy way to join two wires. In the USA the old-fashioned screw nut is the most popular, but they’re shitty and no one likes them. You use them by doing… something, I dunno, I’ve never used them: in South Africa we mostly use the equally shitty Eurostyle Terminal Block, or the less shitty Inline Splice (not pictured). The Brand Name Wago™ Lever Nut (or a cheap imitation) is preferred these days, it’s more expensive but much more reliable, you pull up the orange tabs, slide your stripped wire into the slot and clamp it shut. It forms a solid connection you can easily undo later and they ensure that all your connections are to code so that you can’t be held liable when something burns down. -- source link
