historicwomendaily: Princess Caroline of Great Britain (1713 - 1757) was the fourth child and third daughter of King George II and his wife Queen Caroline of Ansbach. In 1722 by the advice of her mother she received the smallpox vaccination and in 1728 she documented her personal expenses to charities in London. Princess Caroline was the favorite of her mother and was known as “the truth-loving Caroline Elizabeth”. When there were any fights or disagreements between the children her parents would send for their daughter stating “Send for Caroline, and then we shall know the truth!” Dr. John Doran reported spoke about Caroline as “The truth-loving Caroline Elizabeth was unreservedly beloved by her parents, was worthy of the affection, and repaid it by an ardent attachment. She was fair, good, accomplished, and unhappy.” She became unhappy in her later life when her husband Lord Hervey (a bisexual) was reported to have an affair with her elder brother Prince Frederick and other women in court. When he died in 1743, the widowed Princess retired to St. James Palace and only allowed her friends and family to visit. She was very unhappy towards the end of her life, dying unmarried, unhappy, and childless. Princess Caroline reported to continue to give money to charities until her death. She died on December 28, 1757 and was buried in Westminster Abbey. Earl Walpole wrote about Princess Caroline after her death stating, "Though her state of health had been so dangerous for years, and her absolute confinement for many of them, her disorder was, in a manner, new and sudden, and her death unexpected by herself, though earnestly her wish. Her goodness was constant and uniform, her generosity immense, her charities most extensive; in short, I, no royalist, could be lavish in her praise.”. -- source link
