If you are a white woman in dia de los muertos garb please look at yourself.** ..Hey white witches, healers, magic makers, we gotta remember to connect our magic and healing work to social justice work and ending oppression, every damn day. Those of us with European ancestors and pale skin continue to benefit from a system that was built on the backs of black and brown folks. So when we practice magic, it is important to put this at a forefront. What are the roots of your practice? Did your ancestors hurt and steal from those who used these practices as ritual? So how do you pay respect to these traditions, give back, dismantle the rewritten narrative?..I hear a lot of self-described spiritual healers say that you get what you manifest. This is an incredibly dangerous, and privileged, belief. Did Sandra Bland manifest her death by failing to use a turn signal? Did Trayvon Martin manifest his murder because he bought snacks? And further, did George Zimmerman manifest walking free with his good energy? Did the Syrian people manifest the brutality shown by their dictator? Look, I believe in manifestations, you can manifest inner feelings, reactions, self care. You can call things to you, and maybe they’ll appear. But there is something bigger around us, it’s called inequality, institutional racism, patriarchy, INJUSTICE. So white folks, don’t say that everything that happens to you it’s because you brought it on yourself… the world doesn’t work that way. It’s largely out of our control. And more over we are connected with a deep history which has deeply oppressed POC, women, queers, folks with disabilities, indigenous groups etc. so let’s step up our work and perspectives as healers ❤️✊.Thanks to @maven_musing for the inspiration, and @rainbowkimono for the art.
