workingclasshistory:On this day, 23 September 1893, feminist and Spanish civil war fighter Libertad Rodenas was born in Valencia. Moving to Barcelona, she got involved in the revolutionary CNT textile workers’ union, and was involved in workers’ armed defence groups. Despite many arrests, and the shooting of some of her relatives, she kept on, and with the arrival of the civil war she fought on the front with the anarchist Durruti Column until women were banned from the militias. At this point she joined the revolutionary women’s group Mujeres Libres. Fleeing the fascist victory, she eventually moved to Mexico where she died in 1970. We have produced some merch commemorating the Mujeres Libres to help fund our work: https://shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/spanish-civil-war https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1217390521779429/?type=3 -- source link
