daysofstorm:moriartysskull:londoncallingsigh:Hamlet sketch at Shakespeare Live! From the RSC on BBC TwoThat was brilliant. What I mostly enjoyed about this, apart from the obvious hilarity, intertextuality and postmodern deconctruction of the acting part, was that this picked up on what I am trying to bring this across to my students all the time: It’s a director’s and or actor’s choice how to pronounce every single word Shakespeare has written and according to the choice of stress, on top of everything else that has to be considered, acting wise, the text and therefore the character becomes different and all are amazing in their own right. This is probably the true legacy of Shakespeare (on top of adding a shiteload of words to the English Language and being a humanist with dirty humour and a profound understanding of politics and the human confdition). -- source link
