Look at the expressions, and the way that each time there’s a little less response, a little less reaction.Every time, it becomes a little easier to deny, and a little less plausible, and a little easier to shut himself away and wall himself up inside a shell of vulnerability-less, family-less solitude. Each repetition makes the declaration of family/love less meaningful, and ultimately (by the point of the Avengers) it’s like he doesn’t hear it at all.
