First time I heard the word “donut”—I thought it was a peculiar word. Do-nut. Peculiar shape too. Too young to drink hot black coffee, I got into the Peaks mood by eating copious amounts of donuts; it got so bad I became utterly sick of them and couldn’t stand the sight of them for about 10 years.
