soundslikejuice:chenisthebestkitty:averyspaciouswitch:tobiswife:Why does it seem like everyone forgets about Kida, Pocahontas, and Mulan? All 3 of those princesses, though mostly forgotten, were never trying to find love, though they did find it in the end. Kida wanted to help her people/learn more about how to help them. Pocahontas also wanted to help her people and also wanted to stop a war from breaking out. Then Mulan wanted to find out who she really was/wanted to make her father proud of her. Everyone forgets about these wonderful princesses and it’s a shame because their strong, beautiful, and smart; plus they can kick some butt. QMerida’s a kickass gal,but she’s not the only kickass gal.Don’t forget about these amazing ladies.I hope no one will jump at me when I point out that all three of them are ladies of colour on top of that, and strangely Merida, the first white princess with a similar motivation, is the one being promoted as the strong willed woman most.Okay, looking for a princess who is white and also strong willed. YOU ALL FORGOT BELLE. Belle who doesn’t want to get together with Gaston, who is the strongest, wealthiest, supposedly most handsome man in the village. Belle who sacrifices her life so her father won’t die (much like mulan) Belle who thinks she is going to live with a monster for the rest of her life! And if we are talking about being “romantically motivated” then technically you could include Snow white (her motivation was basically to stay alive), and Tina (she just wanted to become human again/open her restaurant). The only princesses I can can think of that are for the most part motivated by love are Ariel and Cinderella but even then love isn’t the only factor. (Ariel wanted to be on land before she saw the prince and Cinderella wanted desperately to be out of the unfortunate position she was in). Perhaps a better phrasing would have been Merida is the only disney princess to have no interest of love at all. And there are plenty of Disney female heroines who don’t have love interests eg. Alice, which makes sense because both Merida and Alice are quite young. Andq actually, it’s not like Merida doesn’t have any sort of interest in love at all. She just doesn’t want to marry someone just because they won her competion, or because she has to. And lastly, it’s not like these stories are original concepts anyway. Most are Grimm fairy tales, the little mermaid is Hans Christian Anderson’s story, Mulan was a real story, and Brave was based on a Scottish legend. Anyway, that’s just my point of view. So there.exactly thank -- source link
