cuirassier:lurvyx:cuirassier:lurvyx:cuirassier:Russian cuirassiers attacking the French 46th infantry regiment at Borodino, 1812I believe that is the Astrakhan cuirassier regiment.I doubt it. Here is a table for the cuirassier regiments from the Osprey book Russian army of the Napoleonic wars - CavalryI also have an image of the Astrakhan regiment from another source:So according to the table the cuirassiers charging the French square must the Military Order regiment, part of the 2nd Cuirassier Division under Major General Ilya Mikhailovich Duka.Looks like someone changed the color of the saddle. Which threw me off. I found a couple of the same picture with different colors. This is strange… May be the artist made several versions? Because the position of the head of the cuirassier at the front, the closest to the observer is different from this on the image you presented. So I made a bit of research and found that this is an illustration of Alexander Yezhov made for “Warrior” magazine № 18. And it says these are the Little Russia (Malorosiyskie) cuirassiers. So I guess that’s the case since the picture of the original post looks like a scan so probably someone scanned it from the magazine mentioned above. Here is the source I found, it’s only in Russian though. So probably the scan I have is so dark so I mistook the green for black. I can’t see a reason for someone to digitally manipulate the image just to switch the colours of the cuirassiers. -- source link
