allbeendonebefore:It’s been a while, eh? Five years!I first created Edmonton and Calgary back in 2009-2010 on the old forums of the I Am Matthewian Project. Look what dweebs they’ve become.Edmonton - Edward Murphy- Although he’s the older of the two, he grew a lot slower. Edmonton had a population of barely 300 people in the mid 1880s when he was nearly one hundred years old. Today, he’s still the shorter one despite being older than both Calgary and Alberta.- He’s not known as the City of Champions because of his hockey glory days with Wayne Gretzky, but rather because he survived a rare tornado. The ‘Deadmonton’ nickname has nothing to do with former murder capital titles but rather because of how boring he supposedly is. - He seems to have a very, er, unique taste in public art and architecture. - Métis heritage, hazel eyes, brown hair. He has a round nose and has become a bit chubby in the past 20-30 years.- Despite his dour appearance, he really enjoys festivals and sketch comedy. In his spare time, he enjoys writing poetry about the miserable weather.- I grew up here and live here now so I’m quite biased and fond of him. Oh, and he’s a bit of a massive homo.Calgary - Calvin McCall- Completely obsessed with the letter C. It’s on his jersey, his flag, and pretty much everything he owns. - Contrary to the image he likes to cultivate, Calgary was never a Wild West outpost town. From the beginning, wealthy entrepreneurs financed health, education and infrastructure. He looks a bit wild and carefree, but in reality he is a shrewd businessman and knows what tourists expect from him. He’s also a bit spoiled.- He gets warm chinooks from the mountains in the winter, but he gets bad headaches when they do come and can be absolutely insufferable.- One of the tallest and fastest growing of the Canadian cities.- American heritage, light brown eyes, blonde hair. He tends to have angular features and sports an 80s mullet.Other Information- The Battle of Alberta goes much deeper than hockey and has spanned Albertan history from everything to railroads to education. It even has a wiki page.- I honestly did not notice Calgary’s hair looks like young Wayne Gretzky’s until a few days ago. The cruel irony is just too much.- on that subject I have no idea what their ahoges are for. I drew Edmonton’s nubs because that’s how my dad drew cartoon hair, I guess? Calgary’s hair was supposed to be close to America’s when I first made him but now idk what it is. xD- At the moment, we both seem to be losing the Battle of Alberta hockey-wise, but usually we are more likely to cheer for Vancouver than the other team.- I tend to try to base their colour palettes off their flags but have you seen calgary’s flag my god. Optime! For the characters, use hic (etc.) and ὁ (etc.) instead of haec (etc.) and τὸ (etc.). -- source link
