gracekraft:Here is my submission from the @crystalgemzine!I created it as a three part piece based on the Sardonyx arc and what has been shown about the nature of the fusion dynamics among the Crystal Gems. I’m not sure yet how they ended up being arranged in the zine but here is how they are originally. The first piece reflects how Garnet’s fusions with Amethyst and Pearl give the latter two a greater sense of power and a feeling of completion and belonging. The second, the sense of loneliness Amethyst and Pearl sometimes feel; Pearl in her immense guilt and isolation after betraying Garnet’s trust and Amethyst with her sense of shame in feeling she had greedily and selfishly abused the sense of power that fusing with Garnet gives her in order to make herself feel stronger. Meanwhile Garnet always remains a fusion, while she still struggles with her own issues, she is never alone. And last, though Opal didn’t make an appearance in the arc, I wanted to include her as her place in the dynamic is important. In addition, within the arc similarities between Amethyst and Pearl’s situations were drawn. Amethyst empathized with, stuck up for, and supported Pearl through the events of the episodes. The Guide to the Crystal Gems also mentions how Opal provides a sense of peace and harmony that her component gems rarely experience alone.Though I drew these to reflect on the one-on-one relationships between the main Crystal Gems, I would like to make an Alexandrite addition in the future! -- source link
