In honor of the opening of our highly-anticipated exhibition Radical Women: Latin American Art, we’re kicking off our Mujeres Rebeldes film series this Thursday with a screening of the award-winning documentary Chavela (Catherine Gund and Daresha Kyi, 2017, 93 min.), which celebrates the life of the game-changing queer icon and legendary ranchera singer. Since it’s Chavela’s birthday week (shoutout to Aries season!), queer rancherx and climate justice organizer Ceci Pineda will open the evening with a special birthday tribute to Chavela!
