Circa 1969.Like all early Muppets, Bert and Ernie look rougher, unkempt; it would take a year or two before they started combing their hair and straightening their clothes. I think the black-and-white photo shows Bert and Ernie prototypes, but I’m not completely sure.(I couldn’t remove the first image’s watermark. Fortunately it’s not that intrusive.) -- source link
