anuvia:the-mighty-sloth:odelia-jay:»» The MLK that’s never quoted.and it’s no accident that this segment is conveniently left out of our educationBut…The meanings behind Black and White and their “sinister” and “pure” usage have..nothing to do with people… Black is usually the color used for evil/fear because it’s the color we see in darkness. Darkness is and always has been one of mankind’s greatest fears; it conceals the unknown and leaves us blind; We fear the darkness because without sight, we are vulnerable. White is often characterized with purity because LIGHT is often associated with the color white; Light brings us clarity, keeps the earth alive, and above all else it gives us a sense of being able to fully see what is around us, and thus makes us feel less vulnerable; so as human beings we adore the light. Black and White are not juxtapositioned because of skin color… they’ve represented these things for eons in nearly ALL cultures; not just white ones. I mean…do you think a Taijitu (Commonly known as the symbol for Yin and Yang) was a representation of people’s skin tones…?!I’m all for what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did for this country and how he went about it; The man is a legend, but much like all of History’s greats, every word they say isn’t necessarily forged from accuracy. -- source link
