On Saturday I assisted my good buddy @markrhodesphoto on a studio shoot with the primary aim of experiementing with some new LED lights he just aquired which allow you to dial pretty much any colour into them. Eventually we did some shots of our model with blue on one side and red on the other. Mark posted one of his shots on IG today and not long after received a rather intersting comment from another photographer. This photographer had previously done a very similar photo with red and blue lights on his model. Essentially this photographer suggested that Mark had been “inspired” by his image. His way of not so subtly saying that Mark had copied his idea. Here’s a shot I took back in 2010 with my good friend Nina modelling for me. This particular day we were experimenting with, you guessed it, red and blue gels on my lights! I was also experimenting with a tilt shift lens but let’s ignore that for the moment. My point is that as photographers we experiment, sometimes we are inspired by other photographer’s ideas and (mostly) we try to adapt them to our own. I’m not saying that direct copying doesn’t happen, it does and unfortunately more often than it should. Other times we just accidently capture an image that looks very similar to another photographer’s photo without having any prior knowledge of that image. Shit happens, keep calm and just keep shooting. #artisticnude #camattreephoto #fineartnude #studio #studiolighting #elinchrom #lowkey #artnudemodel #artnude #portrait #experiement #gels #redandblue -- source link
