cassiopea, otherwise known as upside down jellyfish, have a symbiotic relationship with photosynthet
cassiopea, otherwise known as upside down jellyfish, have a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic dinoflagellates, whom they protect, and who in turn provide them with energy, provided they aren’t sheltering the sunlight. but by exposing their underside to the sun, the occasional carrier crab is able to grab hold of them for use as cover and protection. apparently the jellyfish don’t much mind, so long as the dinoflagellates have their sunlight.
