henryconradtaylor: Potential space for the Hollywood Studios redesign With the announced closure of the Art of Animation Building at Hollywood Studios, they’re one step closer to freeing up approximately half the park’s land for potential Star Wars and/or Pixar additions. All they need to close down now are the Voyage of the Little Mermaid (Way past its prime), and the Streets of America (empty most of the year, excluding Christmas). The only maybe I can see here would be whether or not they decide to close Lights, Motor, Action. I think if they’re going a different direction with the park, the Stunt Show would have very little relevance and could definitely go the way of the Backlot Tour. That leaves everything in red for redevelopment. Of course, some of that is backstage area which would either need to be moved or condensed. And they might need to move the Earful Tower. Either way, I can definitely see them fitting $2 Billion worth of improvements on this footprint. It’s just sad to see half the park out of commission for a couple of years while they get all their ducks in a row. Three years on, I was pretty close. The orange is what was actually redeveloped, with Toy Story Land having just opened and Star Wars opening next year. They still need to decide what to do with the old animation building, which I’m sure will be facing changes once Star Wars opens. I still think Voyage of the Little Mermaid needs to close as well.I must say I’m rather proud of how I carved around Muppet Vision almost the same way imagineering ended up doing it… -- source link
