Paul G. Anderson, 1922-2015Professor Paul Anderson died on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the age of 93. He was the horn professor at the University of Iowa from 1947-1989 and was an active member of the International Horn Society. His full obituary is available here.Signs of Professor Anderson’s career at Iowa are visible throughout the Rita Benton Music Library’s collection, from the programs on which he performed, to the countless scores he donated to the Library over the years. In fact, when I visited the solo horn section looking for scores bearing his mark, three out of the five scores I pulled from the shelf had “PAUL ANDERSON” stamped on the title page. One of the scores Professor Anderson donated, Douglas Hill’s Soliloquy for Horn, bore the following inscription from the composer:To Paul:With my compliments to a most honored friend and colleague. - Douglas Hill.We send our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, colleagues and students. -- source link
