This is the neck heel of a cello that was recently reset by me (my boss did the varnish work). A neck reset consists of sawing out the neck and adding wood in 8 places to raise up the neck from the body, center the neck on the body, apply the proper neck tilt (slightly towards the bass side on cello to allow for easy A and D string bowing), and to get the proper neck angle on the body, in this case it needed everything, including a side piece since the neck wasn’t originally center and wouldn’t hit the button proper with the corrected angle. I got the light to an angle where you can see my joint a little better. The tiny piece at the back was originally there, but there’s another new back piece at the back of the right side that you can’t see. -- source link
