This just sounds like a great way to traumatise kids but the stats say that American kids tend to come out of high school with PTSD anyway so in for a penny I guess. Is there any data to suggest that this affects teen road accident statistics in any way or did someone just decide it sounded cool and impactful one day? If this is a common US thing at all (and I doubt it - in fact I’d guess some or all of these tweets are complete fabrications), it’s recent. This didn’t happen when I went to high school and I’ve never personally heard of it happening anywhere else either. Here’s a Wikipedia article about one such program. My high school did it. Also they lie about statistics.
