yeoldegunporn:Model 1911 Carbine (“K11”) 1926An improvement over the original, 1889, version of the Schmidt–Rubin rifle, the Swiss M1911 placed the locking lugs in the middle of the bolt, rather than at the rear, strengthening the action and allowing for a more powerful cartridge, the Gewehrpatrone 11 or GP 11, to be fired. The “K11″ was developed slightly later as a carbine rifle for Swiss support troops, cavalry, and other units that required a shorter rifle. The “P” stamp on the receiver just before the bolt might be indicative of a private sale to the soldier of this rifle after he left service. More evidence of this is the “Troop Tag” found under the buttplate of the rifle. It has the name, unit, city, and birthdate(1907) of the soldier who was issued the rifle. -- source link
