giffordcats:Please Help Andre, Gifford Cat with Cancer - Fundraising DriveThe Gifford Cat Shelter is conducting a fundraising drive to help Andre, a Gifford resident, who has cancer. With comfort and care, the vets have determined that, although Andre’s prognosis is not good, at this time he can be kept pain free, is eating and drinking, and accepts and gives love. He is happy and very affectionate. If Andre wasn’t sick, he would be one of those cats who would be adopted almost immediately.Gifford will work closely with Andre’s care team and ensure Andre will never be in pain, and we will make that difficult decision when we know it is the right thing to do. We have vets providing guidance on this; these vets know and respect Gifford’s mission statement. The Board and Staff of Gifford will give Andre a voice by being his protector and advocate. However, the reality is that illness is expensive and Gifford is responsible for paying the bills. Our goal is to raise enough money for Andre to come back to Gifford and live out his days as comfortably as possible with all of the love that defines Gifford. This goal is $3,000.Please donate to the Tuffy Fund, our targeted fund for cats with chronic illnesses, to help Andre. And please come by the shelter and give Andre some love. Before Andre came to Gifford, he spent most of his life in a cage, so we would like to make his remaining days the best they can possibly be.http://www.giffordcatshelter.org/donations/targeted-funds/The mission of Gifford Cat Shelter is to provide a safe haven for abandoned, stray, abused, neglected, unwanted and injured cats with the goal of re-homing and ending the needless killing of community and companion cats. It was the first cageless, no-kill shelter in the country and has been in existence since 1884. -- source link
