Hawaii Summer Bliss Retreat! Kalani Oceanside Retreat. So I’ve been standing at a crossroad, or more aptly put, a rest area on my yoga path, not sure which direction to go in. In the meantime, I’ve been just playing mostly, not taking myself too seriously and wondering what the next move will be. For the last six years, my dear, beautiful friend, L, who introduced me to my old studio, has been trying to coordinate a yoga getaway, but for one reason or another, we could never overlap at the same time. First we were going to do teacher training together, but I ended up doing a 12 week course in winter in San Diego, while she took a summer intensive in Costa Rica for two weeks. Then it was an advanced vinyasa training course in Riviera Maya two years ago that she went to. This fall I was trying to get a retreat in Ojai for both of us to work, but she was working, so I passed on it too. Luckily, a month later, she suggested a Hawaii for summer 2012. The dates worked for both of us so we got a deal for half off for a five day yoga retreat at Kalani Oceanside Resort! My sweetie bought the package for me as an xmas present. Other than the skyrocket prices for airfare right now, Im getting super excited. Last fall, June seemed so far away. Now it’s right around the corner and just at the time when I need a little inspiration and renewal in my practice. It will be a refreshing change of pace. Here’s a description of the retreat and the center. Come to Hawaii for a week of Yoga, Meditation and Adventure! We’ll begin our day with a 7:30am kundalini yoga and meditation practice, followed by a gourmet buffet breakfast and a 10:30am vinyasa flow class. Our afternoons will include a snorkeling adventure, relaxing by the pool, hot tub relaxations and more. In the evenings, we’ll dine on Kalani’s open air lanai with fresh fish, organic vegetables and sultry desserts. Join us for a week of bliss and rejuvenation as we let go into the healing beauty of yoga in paradise. About the Facilitator(s) Dennis Dehler Dennis agrees with Pattabhi Jois’ statement in the movie Enlighten Up that the main goal of yoga is to discipline the mind. Dennis feels that Kundalini Yoga is one of the most effective, fun and quickest methods to practice the art of disciplining the mind. His approach is gentle and focuses on opening up the energy centers in the body with Kundalini Yoga exercises. He has studied with Kundalini master Gurmukh and completed Yogi Bhajan’s Kundalini Teacher Training. His classes are invigorating, grounding, intuitive, fun and leave you feeling centered, calm and smiling. Jared Sam jaRed has been learning, deepening and sharing his yoga flow practice at Kalani for the past nine years. He first discovered his yoga body through the primary series with Pamela Richardson in the summer of ‘97. He graduated from Kathy Elder’s original yoga teacher training class in 2001 and has since deepened his understanding of teaching vinyasa flow yoga through intensives with Duncan Wong and Shiva Rea. He has felt honored and inspired by the teachings of many and holds gratitude for all of his teachers, past and present. He continues to hold a sacred space for breath, gratitude, yoga and love in his weekly classes at Kalani Oceanside Retreat.
