goodsensefarm: If you didn’t know already, Good Sense Farm is a hotbed and a hothouse of Black magic. So why would we pass up an opportunity to have a lightning chat with digital rootworker Natalie Patrice Tucker? She’s one of the top web accessibility experts in the U.S., working the Web down to the root to make it make it more usable for disabled folks, and to meet a wide array of access needs, period–ie, a ‘Net that holds us all. And she does all this while being femmefabulous. (A tutu may or may not be involved.)Describe yourself and your work in mythic terms:I am a fire-breathing dragon who excels at correcting the insurmountable. When I have done my best, no one knows I have performed magic and everyone’s life is improved. What you wish the muggles knew about web accessibility:It’s fundamental, like food and shelter. Access to information is a human right. We cannot compromise on that. There is no middle ground. Either we are creating a web that works for everyone or we are perpetuating colonialist ghettoization of resources. Are you tapped into the fungal Internet? If so, could you share relevant log-in info, passwords, security patches, tips, etc? With regard to the wood wide web, I am what would be considered a Black Hat hacker, primarily working to bring down the flower industrial complex by seeding and supporting the proliferation of vegetation suitable for human consumption. I’ll say nothing more about my work in that regard as it is highly classified within the amorphous network to which I belong.Photo: Natalie at Trans*H4CK. Yours truly -- source link
