So I did some #decluttering myself on Monday, mainly I bought some boxes to #store things as a good #organise can also make a space feel so much better! But myself and my partner went through our books and decided to felt rid of a few that we had already read and probably wouldn’t read again. I then put these up on the community facebook page we have and they were snapped up and collected that day!Since the first #lockdown I understand that charity shops got inundated with #donations (I walked past our Age UK store in town and it was floor to ceiling of plastic bags!) And with a lack of #volunteers and availability of volunteers to sort through these it’s put a lot of strain on the industry. #Donating to #charity stores also does not mean that the things will be #sold, they could also be thrown away (so make sure you’re donating things of good quality and usability.) This is why in my #checklist I have put them toward the bottom. (Though this list isn’t in the best order!)When decluttering it’s important to be #mindful. Do you really need to get rid of things? Why are you doing this? Is it possible to keep hold of them until they become unusable or can they be reused elsewhere? #Reduce, #Reuse and then #recycle comes last. There’s no point getting rid of something you then need to buy again later! Don’t get caught up in the fad and know each journey is unique to you. Labels can always be detrimental to our #mentalhealth. I like the idea of having a clutter free home but I’m not exactly a #minimalist as I like my books, games and #cosy #items too much. It’s always how you prefer to #live and if you are #stressed with your #living #space, then take the time to see what will make you feel better. So first off, if you want to get rid of things then #selling is always the best option. You get #money and you know that it’s going to a #home that will use the item. There’s a variety of sites that can help with this.Next, try a community app like Olio (thanks @theecofriendlylife) or if you have one on facebook so you know they can be reused locally by homes that will love them. Then look at #charity stores. Finally, the #bin. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKi1XohlVK_/?igshid=bf6qrott7u5p -- source link
