Beau - Labrador mix:Beau came into our lives one morning in July 2014. We knew that he would become part of our family before we even met him. His virtual presence was compelling enough to reach out to us as we were looking through the adoptable animals on the Boston Animal Rescue League’s website.We had been considering adopting another dog after the loss of our beloved Rocco, another black senior from a shelter who had been our sweet little boy during his final years. Once he was gone, the raw pain of his passing was gradually blunted over time, but we still felt unprepared and unable to open our hearts to another dog. This changed on the morn- ing that we first saw Beau. We forgot our plans for a leisurely summer day and drove straight down to the Animal Rescue League in Boston.Beau is blind but that did not stop him from deciding to adopt us during the interview process, when he climbed up onto the couch that we were sitting on and lay across us. The staff at this wonderful shelter had looked after Beau so well and loved him dearly, but it was time for him to be homeward bound. -- source link
