Harper, Ruby, and Sam bringing in the millennium vampire-style!!! I’ve really been playing a lot lately with Harper’s back story, especially the two other vampires that comprised his coven. They are only mentioned passively in the story, but I really love them as characters. This is the only photo of the 3 of them that Harper has left. Ruby is the leader of the coven. She was a big time party girl and became a vampire in 1924. She loves dancing and large extravagant parties. She’s very openly sexual, although she doesn’t really care for romance. Ruby is always about having a good time and can often be hard to keep up with. Sam is a violent sadist who’s favorite things include slow, agonizing pain and that look in a person’s eye when they realize they’re really going to die. He struck a deal with Ruby when he realized what she was and the vampire lifestyle has fit him like a glove ever since. He idolizes Ruby for her lifestyle choices and lack of any human empathy whatsoever. He and Harper were in the same gang growing up and sees him as a little brother. Harper is a junkie and delinquent who was made a vampire to prevent him from dying of an overdose. Harper is substantially less into murder than the other two, but he does his best to keep up and not be a buzz kill. According to Ruby, he is “the cute one” of the group, meaning that he contributes basically nothing. He looks up to Sam and pretty much just tries not to piss off Ruby. -- source link
