Anakin is already in the mask, and has become Vader; Ben has destroyed his mask, and is about to accept his given name for the first time in years. And the directional inversions. Padmé is being lead head first toward the grave, a hopeless procession; Rey goes of her own volition, feet first into the void, toward hope. Vader is looking left (backward) toward literal death (the Death Star); Ben is looking right (forward) toward the promise of life. -- source link
