ABSTRACT TIN MANOne of the earliest tin men trade signs made by Israel Zachvitz, Bronx, NY 1925.The legs have little doors that hinge open and inside was found a yellowed note with the name and address of the maker and his tin shop. This is one of the earliest tin men known and predates The Wizard of Oz with an early modernist abstraction. It was pictured in an ad in the 1970’s in the folk art magazine The Clarion by Gary Cole who sold it to an early collector of folk art.via: American Primitive Art -- source link
