formlines:Frog Mark HendersonFrom the website: “There are numerous stories about frogs among the Indians of the Northwest coast. The Kwakiutl story related to Mark is of frog’s association with coppers. When the frog looked down into the water and saw the wealthy house of Komokwa, ruler to the Undersea World, he was given the privilege of cutting the copper, thus becoming associated with wealth. Frogs are depicted in masks, bowls and other carvings. In this design Mark has used copper coloured ink as a symbol of frog’s status.” (Artist Statement provided by Pacific Editions) -- source link
