omgwtfbbqcandy: NDP Leader Jack Layton dies after cancer battle This is such an unbelievable loss. There are so many things I could say about this amazing man, I don’t even know where to start. In a political world filled with Stephen Harper, changing Liberal leaders, a fluctuating Bloc, and a terrible voting system, Jack Layton was the one pillar of strength, hope, and reason. He had an incredibly infectious positive mindset and knew best of all what the Canadian population was looking for in a leader. He had faith in this country, in its people, and especially in its youth. He made us all believe that Canadian political reform was possible through him. It was in this way that he managed to break centuries of tradition and become the first non-Liberal or Conservative federal opposition, and no one deserved it more. He was and is an inspiration to all of us, and all current Canadian political leaders would do well to emulate him. Rest in peace, Jack Layton. You will be greatly missed. -- source link
