“Temple Ruins”, by Ari Suonpää. A lovely painting of an ancient - but not quite forgotten - temple, just the sort of landscape that could inspire stories. Mostly fantasy stories, of course - but then, aren’t they all?I chose to focus on the figures in the foreground rather than the temple itself, since I’ve had more trouble with flora and fauna than with architecture. The rock face is good; when I shaded it in, I inadvertently covered up the cracks in the rock face, but I think it works better this way - the darker lines I had to draw over the shading look much more like cracks. The tree is quite good; I noticed that in several places I knew that there ought to be a branch without referring to the original drawing. Perhaps I’m getting the hang of this whole art thing? The dog’s alright, and the man also; he does seem to be slightly too short, but at least he’s not stocky. -- source link
