Castle by Lake, by Ari Suonpää. Doesn’t that look like a lovely place? I can’t help but think of the Castle of the Forest Sauvage - a nice, homely sort of place, for a castle. He’s done loads of landscapes like this, and (although I’m suspicious of the claim myself) it seems that these pieces are made digitally, not with traditional media. I know, it really looks like a real painting, doesn’t it? At any rate, if I wanted to improve my foliage, I couldn’t find a better choice for source material.Speaking of my work, I didn’t do too bad a job. I’m leaving off water until I figure out the whole foliage thing, but the grass looks all right; the tree, although thicker than the original, is good; the castle looks excellent (except that one window), and overall it’s decent for a sketch. Still not too good at the leaves; I need to rethink how I’m doing them, I think. Perhaps smaller, less rounded/connected strokes? -- source link
