A picture of a Roman feast, by a Croatian fellow called Sedeslav. He’s got quite a few good pictures; if you’ll recall, back in January I used his picture of a Roman galley for an ebook cover. He mainly focuses on medieval drawings - there’s some great illustrations in his gallery. This was, for obvious reasons, a much easier picture than yesterday. The slave’s a tad bit heftier than in the original; she’s clearly supposed to be leaning, but I didn’t exactly pull that off. Her face is more sad than calm, too. Apart from that, the hands are not too bad, and the amphorae came off really well. It should also be pointed out that, if the expression isn’t quite right, the face is still much better than how I was when I started out - and her arms are much better than the last time I attempted a similar pose. -- source link
