Authority should be exercised for the betterment of those you are in authority over, not for your own selfish gain. When someone places their trust in you, when they submit to your authority, that is an act that should not be taken lightly. It is a responsibility, and it is the abuse of this responsibility that has led to acrimony between the genders.
