*posts art for a book I haven’t read*SO… I saw a bunch of TGCF on my dash and with much encouragement and symbolism tips from @henshengs and @paradife-loft decided to render Lady Wind Master in the style (ish) of the Yongle Palace murals because part of her manhua design reminded me of some of the women immortals, so I decided to draw an alternate one for her based on that! There are some differences in the style but rather than make a bunch of outfit notes, the second part of this post has labelling of most of the details/accessories (minus the short sleeved jacked which is called a banbi. The murals were made during the Yuan dynasty but feature immortals in garb from various time periods and with different ceremonial purposes in some cases; since TGCF is fantasy and has no “date”, I took some similar liberties to the exaggerated and fantastical stylings of the figures based on aesthetics suited to the character. That said, a lot of the vague reference points are from the Wei & Jin dynasties, if anyone’s curious. I might try doing a couple more characters in this style, we shall see if I have the time/energy -- source link
