Assignment 5Misty by Alec Soth Fake Misty by Hanady OmranResearch on Alec Soth:I wanted to imitate a picture by Alec Soth because despite the simplicity in his pictures, as Misty above demonstrates, they hold great emotion and it is not alwys easy to imitate emption. I found it easy to imitate the blue bonnet, the dramatic eyeliner and the frown on Misty face on my model, but what we worked on for a while and took many pictures of is how her emotions are signaled in the photo. I wanted the fake Misty to demonstarte the same emotion of longing and sadness while posing as Misty did. Alec Soth, in this part of his photography called Niagara, wanted to demonstrate modern love in a quiet place. I found that clever because Niagra Falls is a loud place and people go there not to relax but to enjoy something new. Therefore, I found his concept clever in regards to how he flipped the place on its head and photographed something melancholy and soundless, depending completely on his subjects’ emotions to pass through the photo and not their actions. I also saw the simplicity in how his subjects look. Misty for example does not appear to be wearing anything, which makes me believe she was in a small bathing suit, getting ready for a swim. There weren’t many elements to copy on when trying to imitate this picture so simplicity I believe was Soth’s style here, even if the picture was taken on a large scale. I did not focus on this aspect as much as the other elements since I knew we would not be printing out copies. This is a difficulty I faced; I noticed that . Misty by Alec Soth was taken in Niagara Falls in 2005. -- source link
