recycledmoviecostumes: This blue gown was designed for Abbie Cornish as Elizabeth Throckmorton in the 2007 Elizabeth: The Golden Age. It was seen again 2009 on Sarah Bolger as Princess Mary in the third season of The Tudors. After that it must have made its way into a photo shoot, because it appeared on the cover of three different novels over the coming years, including Cate of the Lost City in 2010, Rivals in the Tudor Court in 2011, and At the King’s Pleasure in 2012. In 2013 it was worn in Mary, Queen of Scots on Gaia Wiess as Mary Flemming. The same year it appeared in the pilot episode of Reign on an extra. In 2015 it appeared on an extra again in Bill, and finally it was spotted on Rafaelle Cohen as Anne Boleyn in the 2021 documentary The Boleyns: A Scandalous Family. This gown seems to have a couple of duplicates floating around - a practice that is common when costuming for film. While all sightings are clearly the ‘same’ costume due to the cut of the costume, fabric and lace at the side of the sleeves, the amount of lace and trim around the bodice seems to vary, indicating that there are at least two copies being used. Another great example of a costume with multiple versions being used is this gown from Casanova. Costume Credit: Annette, Asad, Cintia, f2473627, Jamie, Katie S, Kiki, Ricardo, Tasha, Wendy.
