all-the-kili-feels:hashtagstache:Do you think she could have loved me?NO. THIS RIGHT HERE IS NOT OK. YOU WANNA KNOW WHY? I’LL FUCKING TELL YOU WHY.We all know that Kili is considered the “hot” dwarf, right? But in Dwarven culture, attractiveness is determined by your facial hair. Look at all the other dwarves, most of them have really extravagant beards (save for Thorin, really, but Richard Armitage said that he cut it off to honour those who were burned in Smaug’s attack on Erebor). Even most of the dwarf women have beards! So the fact that Kili only has stubble says that he would probably be considered UGLY to dwarf women. Think about it, he’s most likely seen as the goofy little brother of the soon-to-be king, Fili, who is the brother that gets all the girls.AND THEN HE GOES AND SAYS THIS. “Do you think she could have loved me?”This is literally heart breaking because all of his life, he’s been overshadowed by Fili and has heard dwarf women talking about him behind his back about his lack of facial hair. So when Tauriel, a beautiful, brave Elf shows an interest in him, HIM and NOT Fili, it gives him hope for something that could never be. And when he says this, the connotation is that he’s never really had a first love, and I think, essentially, that he doesn’t deserve it. -- source link
